BIO : Shani Shafrir
Discovering therapeutic horticulture felt like finding a language for something I’d already been living. I came to the practice at a point of transition, searching for work that felt meaningful, embodied, and genuinely useful to people.
Through my business, Well Grown, I work with groups across the community services sector- neighbourhood houses, community gardens, mental health services, educational and wellbeing programs. My focus is on creating calm, accessible spaces, where people can feel safe to connect with nature, learn skills, and feel a sense of belonging.
I’m particularly passionate about embedding TH in everyday community settings, where it can be accessible, flexible and responsive to the people involved. I value collaborative practice and the shared learning that happens when people come together.
Through Well Grown, my aim is to continue growing this work in ways that honour both the integrity of the practice and the diverse communities we serve. I feel grateful to be part of a growing field that places care, connection, and plants at its heart.
