Join us for the THA-QLD Spring Meet Up at the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers.
We have planned events over two days - Friday 22 & Saturday 23rd September.
Meet with other Therapeutic Horticulture Practitioners and experience a diverse range of therapeutic horticulture programs and gardens at the beautiful Toowoomba carnival of flowers.
Itinerary Includes:
Friday 22nd September
10.30am Infinite Care, Mt Lofty, Aged Care Facility
Lifestyle Coordinator Denise encourages residents into the garden with facilities such as a Garden Club, Dementia Unit program and raised garden beds. Residents also enter The Chronicle Garden Competition and Cobb and Co Hanging Basket competition.
12.30pm Lunch tbc
2.00pm Val Peachey’s Garden, Kearney’s Spring
Gorgeous cottage garden with many delightful elements. Val cared for her late husband through dementia and cancer and gardening helped them through difficult times. She has recorded how the garden has developed over time.
This is an exhibition garden and there is an admission cost ($5) with funds being raised for the AEIOU Foundation. There are 5 spectacular exhibition gardens each supporting a chosen charity ($5 each or $20 to visit all 5 – if you have time!) *
3.30pm Afternoon Tea at Laurel Bank Park Scented Garden, Toowoomba City
This garden was developed in 1980 as a joint initiative between the Toowoomba City Council and Toowoomba East Rotary Club at the suggestion of the Downs Association for the Blind in consultation with Occupational Therapists.
6.00pm (optional) Dinner at Urban Grounds Café across the road from Laurel Bank Park
Saturday 23rd of September (bonus day) #
10.00am Toowoomba Community Organic Gardens, Toowoomba City, includes Morning Tea
Guided tour by enthusiastic members. Recent innovative projects include a Hügelkultur raised bed, orchard, and permaculture area, in addition to all the member’s plots.
12.00noon Lunch tbc
Afternoon – multiple own choice options including the following:-

The Chronicle Garden Competition winners - multiple categories depending on your interests
Queen’s Park Botanic Garden, East Toowoomba, includes twilight entertainment
Qld State Rose Garden, Newtown Park
Boyce Gardens, Mount Lofty – heritage listed garden, forest and park
# For children - Picnic Point - Teddy Bears’ Picnic on 23/9 from 8.30am
