Kerryn is a well-respected ecotherapist, co-author of book ‘Nature Heals’ and teacher and provider of nature-based therapy in Australia and New Zealand. Enjoy Kerryn’s beautiful bushland property, while catching up with other TH interested people including Kate Coenen (therapeutic designer from Melbourne).

Kerryn’s place is off grid, in the bush on Little Cattai Creek/wetlands. She lives with wombats, wallabies and black swans, as well as numerous other birds and creatures.

Speakers:

Speaker 1: Kerryn Valeontis

Bio: Kerryn Coombs-Valeontis is an experienced art- & ecotherapist. She works in mental health and in community-based programs for dementia, aged care, mental health and young people at risk. She facilitates online studies in Ecotherapy. Kerryn is co-author of the book Nature Heals: An Introduction to Nature based Therapies in Australia and New Zealand (2019). The release of her first collection of Poetry, In Parentheses, in 2022 was another highlight. Kerryn has been teaching Creative and Expressive Arts Therapy at Nan Tien Institute since 2018. She is a member of ANZACATA, the Australian and New Zealand Art and Creative Therapies Association.

Speaker 2: Kate Coenen

Bio: Kate Coenen is a passionate garden designer, landscaper and horticulturist, located in Melbourne. She founded Living Senses Group, a business specialising in designing and landscaping therapeutic landscapes. She incorporates nature art into the design process and has extended the services into the field of ecotherapy, to further reconnect people to nature. Being a tall Dutch woman, you might have spotted her at one of the THA workshops, at Burnley as guest lecturer or at talks at garden clubs. Kate has a Bachelor of Science in Horticulture, Graduate Certificate in Garden Design, and certificate in ecotherapy.

Event Details

Carpooling from e.g. Galston (undercover Aldi carpark) is advised due to limited parking availability.

Picnic lunch; visitors suggested to bring their own lunch.
Tea/coffee provided by Kerryn - BYO cup
Accessibility:  There are many levels to the large garden with bush paths and multiple steps.
A good fair level of mobility necessary with closed in shoes advised. Not suitable for Wheelchairs - Sorry.
What to bring:  comfortable walking shoes, hat, drinking water and your lunch.
