Kevin Heinze GROW Garden Tour Promotions
THA Garden Tour / Melbourne Spring Autumn Meet Up
Come and visit Kevin Heinze GROW’s Doncaster site for a BYO morning tea and an exclusive tour of their Therapeutic Gardens, established by Kevin Heinze in 1979, and used since then to achieve his vision of supporting access to the therapeutic benefits of gardening to everyone.
The tour of the garden will be led by our Therapeutic Horticulture Coordinator Patrick Wain, showcasing sensory features, accessible garden design, learning and teaching areas, and discussing the delivery and outcomes of their Therapeutic Horticulture Programs.
This is a rare and unique insight into one of the largest disability sector Therapeutic Horticulture centres in the world, and how the multi-disciplinary team of experienced staff utilise the landscape to enhance therapeutic outcomes for all disabled people.
The tour will finish in the nursery where participants can browse stock for sale.
All our plants, many of which have been grown from cuttings from Kevin Heinze’s own garden, are produced and cared for by the participants in the programs. Kevin Heinze GROW is a charity disability services provider, meaning they rely heavily on the support of the general public. By purchasing plants, you are directly supporting their work, and in turn have a connection to participants and the garden through the plants you buy.
Cost of the day is either a $5 donation to KHG, OR purchasing a plant from our nursery.
