Title: Botanical Gardens Nature Connection

World Therapeutic Horticulture Day (WTHD), is a global initiative aimed at raising awareness of how plant-based activities improve mental and physical health. It highlights the work of practitioners and encourages communities to experience the healing power of nature through gardening, horticulture therapy, and nature-based sensory experiences.

Join Therapeutic Horticulture Australia at our Autumn Meet Up at the Garden Club Cafe, City Botanical Gardens Brisbane.

The City Botanic Gardens is a heritage-listed botanic garden. It was also known as Queen’s Park. It is located on Gardens Point in the Brisbane CBD and is bordered by the Brisbane RiverAlice StreetGeorge StreetParliament House and Queensland University of Technology‘s Gardens Point campus. It was established in 1825 as a farm for the Moreton Bay penal settlement.

The Gardens include Brisbane’s most mature gardens, with many rare and unusual botanic species. In particular the Gardens feature a special collection of cycadspalmsfigs and bamboo.

Bio: Samantha Spinks

Samantha started gardening when she was quite young and has continued to grow.  She has a background in primary school teaching.

Sam’s backyard is filled with fruit trees, raised vegetables beds and ornamental gardens filled with a variety of flowers and natives, backyard chickens, worm farms and native stingless bee.

Sam truly loves supporting people in their gardens and seeing the joy that it brings.
