MIFGS Workshops : Deaf-Led Therapeutic Horticulture Experience with Patrick Wain | 29th March : 2:00 – 4:00pm

Patrick is a horticulturalist working in Therapeutic Horticulture on unceded Wirundjeri land. He is a proud Deaf and Neurodivergent person interested in sharing the benefits of Therapeutic Horticulture with all people. Patrick currently works as the Therapeutic Horticulture Coordinator at Kevin Heinze GROW and is on the National Committee of Therapeutic Horticulture Australia.

Come and explore sensory plants in a fun and hands-on workshop with Deaf gardener Patrick Wain. The twist is – you’ll be invited to explore the sensory plant in the same ways many Deaf people do. You’ll touch, smell, and even ‘listen’ to different plants. How could you describe how plants ‘sound’ without using your voice?

Everyone is welcome, including both hearing and Deaf or hard-of-hearing participants.

Patrick’s workshop runs in 30 minute cycles from 2:00pm to 4:00pm, so drop in anytime to join us. You will find us at the Beyond Blue site “B57”.
