MIFGS Workshops : Hapazome with Kayte Kitchen | 28th March : 6:00 – 8:00pm
As the founder of Admirari Nature Therapy and a Garden Therapist at The Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, Kayte conducts individual and group sessions that emphasize sensory experiences and nature immersion. With over 25 years of experience in education and counselling, she combines her horticultural expertise with therapeutic practices to promote healing and a sense of wholeness. Kayte’s sessions help participants connect or reconnect with the natural world through active and contemplative, reflective activities that promote emotional regulation, mindfulness and general wellbeing.
Hapazome is a Japanese technique that involves smashing flowers and foliage into material in order to release the pigment. It is a multi sensory activity, involving the physicality of the hammering, the aroma that is released upon smashing, the visual selecting of plant material and the scene that is being created all alongside the sound of many people hammering.
Last year these sessions created some significant moments for people as they were given permission to release something within themselves as they created something new and beautiful. It was pretty amazing.
Kayte’s workshop runs in 30 minute cycles from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, so drop in anytime to join us. You will find us at the Beyond Blue site “B57”.
