My work with Wagtail Gardens is with gardeners of every level supporting them gaining confidence in their own gardening practice, in their own garden, and as therapeutic work. I’ve done this through introducing them to scientific research about landscape, tree and soil care in practical ways as we have tended those places alongside one another.
Plants, people, place, practices contributing to the tending of place (more than gardening!) and prayer are all really important for me. I know that by working with plants a community can become a healing one. I have experience as a registered nurse, therapeutic horticulturalist (arboriculture and sustainability) and (church) minister. I am committed to an ongoing research practice across social and natural sciences and integrated with theology (with Masters degrees in these fields). I am currently the minister at Richmond Uniting Church (Naarm) on Wurundjeri Country… you are just as likely to find me with my boots on in the garden, supporting the emergency relief at the Richmond Churches Food Centre or walking along the river, as in the old heritage listed church buildings.
